En Común is a fully volunteer-run 501(3)(c) nonprofit working to provide access to essential goods, literacy, and digital connectivity in Bushwick, Brooklyn since 2021. Our small team of reoccurring volunteers work together to organize and execute our regular community programming. To get involved as a short or long term volunteer, please fill out the application form below (please note, it may take a moment to load!).

Essential Goods

In collaboration with partners like Bushwick Ayuda Mutua and Mil Mundos Books, we regularly host essential goods distributions to provide our communities with the products that they need. Distributions are organized weekly by a combination of reoccurring volunteers and one-time volunteers.

Literacy

Through programming like free books, literary-themed student trips, and free English classes for Spanish speakers, En Común is striving to strengthen and provide our community with the information and knowledge they want and need. Our programming supports the development of literacy skills for all ages and encourages a love for reading and language.

Digital Connectivity

En Común is on a mission to get Bushwick households connected to the digital tools they need. Digital literacy starts with residents having reliable internet access and instructions on accessing local resources online. The internet plays an important role for employment, education, and more, and En Común wants to make sure our neighborhood is well informed and connected.
